Collective Worship

Why do we have daily collective worship at St John the Baptist?
At St John the Baptist, daily collective worship is an important part of our broader school life. Getting together as a school, we reflect on our school values of respect, honesty and resilience and Christian themes.

Every day, the act of worship is celebrated with our children by all staff members starting with the Head teacher on a Monday afternoon.  On occasions, we have visitors to lead our assembly including Splash, the Christian charity group based in West Sussex.

Our assemblies are carefully planned using the Diocese of Canterbury's 'Fresh Approach to Collective Worship'.     The theme is introduced at the beginning of the week and is gradually built upon throughout the week.  In addition to Christian values, our assemblies feature key important dates in the Christian calendar and Christian festivals.
