St John the Baptist C of E Primary School is committed to promoting the safety and well-being of all children and we expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share in this commitment.
If any adult has concerns regarding a child's well-being or safety, it is crucial to report this immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Jane Sharrock (Headteacher). If Mrs Sharrock is unavailable, please approach another member of the safeguarding team: Corrine Wellby (Deputy Headteacher), or Tanya Stoner (SENCO).
All staff and parent volunteers who support the school receive regular safeguarding training, and every adult working or volunteering in the school undergoes a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
Risk assessments are carried out for all activities, both on and off-site, including school trips. These assessments are the responsibility of the leader of each activity.
When You Might Become Involved:
- You notice an injury on a child that cannot be explained.
- A child confides in you about something that is happening to them.
- You observe a significant, unexplained change in a child's academic performance or behaviour.
If you are concerned about the safety or welfare of any of our children, please speak to Mrs. Sharrock, our Designated Safeguarding Lead or one of our Dedicated Safeguarding Leads for Child Protection immediately.
